Launch Diagnostic Device

Launch is a Chinese manufacturer founded in 1992 and one of the largest names in vehicle diagnostics worldwide. Oto Ideal stocks two Launch models: the CRP 919X BT and the X-431 Pro 5. Both are genuine, supplied with an invoice and a warranty, and we handle setup and activation.

Which Launch tool should I buy?

The difference between the two is not the screen or the styling — it is ECU coding. Put simply: are you doing service and maintenance work, or do you also need to code control units?

Workshops doing service and maintenance

The Launch CRP 919X BT (31.320 TL) covers the whole of day-to-day service work. It scans every system, reads and clears codes and shows live data, and adds more than 30 advanced service functions: oil light reset, DPF regeneration, AdBlue reset, injector coding, electronic throttle adaptation, ABS bleeding, TPMS reset, steering angle sensor (SAS) reset, battery matching, gearbox learning, brake pad reset and IMMO service among them.

The DBSCar VII interface works wirelessly and supports DoIP and CAN-FD, the two protocols that matter on newer vehicle networks. The tablet runs Android 10 with a 7-inch 1024x600 screen, a 2.0 GHz quad-core processor, 4 GB of memory, 64 GB of storage and a 6300 mAh battery.

Workshops that also code control units

The Launch X-431 Pro 5 (45.120 TL) performs active testing and ECU coding across makes. Alongside the service resets it carries external sensor calibration, component testing and activation, adaptation, VIN-based smart scanning and special functions. It reports and records each diagnosis, works from the cloud, and offers wiring diagrams and repair tips.

If you are not going to code control units, there is no reason to pay the difference. If you are, the 919X BT does not cover that work.

Every row is taken from the tools' own product pages. The dash in the ECU coding row does not mean "cannot": the X-431 Pro 5 page states ECU coding explicitly, while the CRP 919X BT feature list does not mention it. If coding is what decides your purchase, the Pro 5 is where it is stated in writing.

Prices include VAT and come from the same source as the product pages, so the figure here is the figure on that product's own page. Check the product page for stock.

What Launch tools can do

Both models go well past a full-system scan. The functions asked for most often:

  • Maintenance and service: oil light reset, service interval reset, brake pad reset, tyre reset, stop-start reset
  • Engine and exhaust: DPF and GPF regeneration, EGR adaptation, AdBlue reset, NOx sensor reset, injector coding, engine power balance monitoring
  • Chassis and brakes: ABS bleeding, SAS reset, suspension matching, TPMS reset
  • Electrics and comfort: battery matching, window and sunroof calibration, seat calibration, AFS headlight reset, A/C initialisation, high-voltage battery detection
  • Transmission: gearbox learning, gearbox reset

Newer vehicle protocols

On vehicles built from 2018 onwards, classic CAN has been giving way to DoIP and CAN-FD. A tool without them either cannot connect to a newer vehicle at all or manages only a surface-level scan. The CRP 919X BT's DBSCar VII interface supports both; DoIP support is stated on the X-431 Pro 5 page. In a workshop seeing newer vehicles, that line matters far more than screen size.

Software updates and licensing

Launch tools come with a defined free update period — two years on the CRP 919X BT. When it expires the tool keeps working; only support for newer makes and models stops being added. A tool whose updates have run out is not dead hardware, it simply stays at the vehicle coverage it had.

How many years a tool earns its keep is decided by that subscription, not by the purchase price.

Frequently asked

Where do I download the Launch diagnostic software?

There is nothing separate to download. The diagnostic software runs on the tool itself, and vehicle software and updates arrive over Wi-Fi from the tool's own update screen. We install, activate and load the first vehicle software packages for you over a remote connection.

Do you handle the setup?

We install the software, activate the tool and give first-use training over a remote connection, then support you on WhatsApp afterwards. There is a step-by-step guide in how to use the CRP 919X BT.

Genuine or clone?

Every Launch tool we sell is genuine, invoiced and covered by warranty. Clones cannot take updates and lock on the first software update.
