How Abrites is priced: five layers
Anyone looking at the list for the first time gets lost, because there is no single "tool price". The system has five layers and each one is bought separately:
- 1 · Hardware — the AVDI Plus interface. Bought once, shared by every licence.
- 2 · Essential software — a broad set of functions, free while the subscription is active.
- 3 · Brand licences — VAG, Mercedes, BMW, Renault and so on. You buy the make you work on.
- 4 · Special functions — key learning, cluster calibration, ESL repair and similar, sold individually.
- 5 · Additional hardware — PROTAG, ABPROG, the RH850/V850 programmer, cable kits.
The good side of this structure is that you only pay for the makes you actually work on. The harder side is that building the right budget takes some arithmetic. That is exactly what the tables below are for.
AVDI Plus and the main hardware
AVDI Plus is the current Abrites interface. What separates it from the previous generation is CAN-FD and Ethernet (ENET) support — without those two buses most post-2018 vehicles cannot be reached at all.
| Hardware | Code | List price |
|---|---|---|
| AVDI Plus — main interface | AVDI | €1,088 |
| Battery Support Unit | BSU03 | €1,100 |
| Key Inspector — key and transponder inspection | KT011 | €1,000 |
| RH850 / V850 programmer | ZN085 | €550 |
| PROTAG V2 — key and transponder programmer | ZN103 | €500 |
| Jaguar / Land Rover all keys lost tool | KP002 | €500 |
| Distribution Box Set — bench connection set | ZN151 | €450 |
| ABPROG programmer set | ZN130 | €300 |
| CAN Gateway Set | ZN181 | €250 |
| BCM2 solder-free connection set | ZN080 | €250 |
| Volvo key programmer | KP001 | €200 |
For key work the PROTAG V2 is all but mandatory: transponder reading, key preparation and all-keys-lost procedures all run through it. ABPROG comes in when the memory on the module board has to be reached directly.
The annual subscription (AMS) and the cost of renewing late
The first year of subscription comes with the tool. After that the annual subscription — listed as AMS — applies, and there is a detail worth knowing: the price depends on when you renew.
| When you renew | List price |
|---|---|
| Before the subscription expires | €300 |
| 2 – 12 months after expiry | €400 |
| More than 12 months after expiry | €600 |
The same subscription costs €300 on time and €600 if it is forgotten for a year. Putting a reminder in the calendar the day the tool arrives is a habit worth €300 on its own.
Support Plan+ is a separate service: prioritised technical support plus an interface replacement right — a faulty tool is exchanged for a new one up to twice within the year. Its price is not in the manufacturer's public list and it is sold only alongside an active subscription.
Full brand software packages
If you work on one make regularly, the full package usually costs less than buying its licences one at a time. It covers every licence Abrites has developed for that make, and licences added later are included too.

Cable and adapter kits by make
This is the line item most often left out of a budget. The licence is bought and the tool is on the bench — but without the cable that reaches the module the job stops. Abrites therefore sells ready-made kits per make:
- Essential — the cables and adapters needed for everyday work.
- Extended — the extra parts and emulators needed for bench work and harder procedures.
| Make | Essential | Extended |
|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Škoda | €655 | — |
| Mercedes-Benz (cars) | €640 | €1,015 |
| BMW, MINI | €420 | €500 |
| Mercedes-Benz trucks | €360 | — |
| Toyota, Lexus, Scion | €355 | €435 |
| Renault, Dacia | €220 | €470 |
| Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo | €135 | €335 |
| Subaru | €125 | — |
Individual cables and adapters are sold separately too, from €10 to €250 — the BMW ENET cable at €25, the FCA secure gateway cable at €40, the Mercedes EZS bench cable at €40, the Mercedes MD1/MG1 ECU cable at €190 and the BCM2 solder-free set at €250. Emulators (ESL, odometer, transponder) mostly sit between €40 and €150.
If you already own an older licence: update prices
Abrites renews its licences over time and prices the move from an older one to its successor as a separate update item, usually well below the licence itself:
| Move | Normal price | Update cost |
|---|---|---|
| VN024 → VN025 (MQB 5C keys) | €1,800 | €600 |
| VN021 → VN025 | €1,800 | €1,000 |
| VN021/022/023 → VN026 | €600 | €300 |
| MN029 → MN030 (FBS4 cluster) | €750 | €350 |
| MN026 → MN032 (DAS Manager) | €2,000 | €300 |
| MN026 + MN027 → MN032 | €2,000 | free |
| BN013 → BN016 (F-Series keys) | €1,400 | €400 |
| BN013 + BN015 → BN016 | €1,400 | free |
A licence bought years ago does not cost full price to bring up to date. If you know which licences you hold, ask for the update price before committing to anything new.
Three example set-ups and what they cost
Tables on their own stay abstract. The three examples below are simply the list prices above added together — excluding VAT, exchange differences and shipping:
AVDI Plus €1,088 + VAG key package (VN00K) €2,400 + VAG Essential kit €655 + PROTAG V2 €500
AVDI Plus €1,088 + DAS Manager FBS4 €2,000 + FBS4 cluster calibration €750 + Mercedes Essential kit €640
AVDI Plus €1,088 + VAG full package €3,900 + BMW full package €3,300 + two Essential kits €1,075 + PROTAG V2 €500
Taking the Mercedes full package (MN00F, €6,600) instead brings that set-up to €8,828. Whether the €4,350 difference is wasted or pays for itself within the first few jobs depends entirely on how deep you go on that make — and that is where the decision is made.
Four things people miss when comparing prices
- List prices exclude VAT. Ask whether a quotation includes it before comparing anything.
- The cable kit is left out of the budget. The licence gets bought and the cable forgotten — a line item between €135 and €1,015.
- The second year's subscription. The first year is free, so most people do not count it; year two costs €300, or €600 if it is left to lapse.
- Some procedures need extra hardware. Licences that learn keys from an RH850 dump do not work without the ZN085 programmer. If a licence description says "by dump", ask about the hardware as well.
Prices change
This list reflects what the manufacturer published on 17 September 2026. Figures move as Abrites releases new licences and revises prices. Confirm the current price with us before ordering; we keep this article updated as well.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the Abrites AVDI Plus cost?
The manufacturer's list price is €1,088 excluding VAT. That is the hardware alone; the software licence for the make you work on is bought separately. The first year of annual subscription and Support Plan+ come with the tool.
What can I do with the interface alone?
While the subscription is active the essential software is free, covering standard diagnostics: full vehicle scan, reading and clearing fault codes, live data, actuator tests and module identification. Key programming, cluster calibration and ECU work need a brand licence.
Full package or individual licences?
If the licences you need add up to close to the package price, the package wins, because licences added later are included. For a single procedure — say Clio V keys only — the €400 licence is enough.
Is the subscription mandatory?
No. Without it the tool keeps working on its current software version, but new model support and new functions stop arriving. If you work on current vehicles it is mandatory in practice.
What hardware does key work need?
The PROTAG V2 (ZN103, €500) is involved in almost every key job. Some makes additionally need the RH850/V850 programmer (ZN085, €550) or brand-specific cables.
Will new licences work with my older AVDI?
The licences will, but reaching current vehicles that use CAN-FD and Ethernet requires the Plus hardware or an additional CAN-FD adapter. It depends on which vehicles you plan to work on.
Do you provide installation and training?
Yes. Device registration, software installation, licence activation and first-use training are done over a remote connection.
Tell us which makes you work on and what the bulk of your work is — key programming, ECU work or cluster calibration — through our contact form, and we will itemise the licences, cables and total budget in writing. The tool's own page: Abrites AVDI Plus diagnostic and ECU programming interface.
