Alientech KESS3 ECU and TCU Programming Tool

KESS3 is the ECU programming and chip tuning tool from the Italian manufacturer Alientech, built to read and write engine and transmission control units. It runs with the Alientech Suite software and carries more than 3,500 protocols. Its scope is not limited to the engine unit: ECU, TCU (transmission), ACM (after-treatment) and UDM (urea dosing) units are all worked from the same tool.

What KESS3 Does

Changing a vehicle's engine software means reading it out of the unit and writing the modified version back. KESS3 is the hardware that does both, managed through the Alientech Suite software.

Two things set it apart in this class. First, the range of unit types: while most tools focus on the engine unit, KESS3 also covers transmission, after-treatment (ACM) and urea dosing (UDM) units — the modules a Euro 6 commercial vehicle carries on the SCR and AdBlue side. Second, modular subscriptions: you buy coverage per vehicle category.

Three Versions: Master, Slave and DynoDrive

KESS3 Master gives full independence: the file comes to you unencrypted, you control your own calibrations, and you can build your own Slave network and earn from supplying files.

KESS3 Slave is the entry configuration: the technician reads the file, sends it to a Master for modification and writes the file that comes back. DataLogger, DTC and special functions are included, so you keep the full diagnostic and measurement side of the tool.

KESS3 DynoDrive is a simplified version focused solely on performance measurement, without subscription costs. It does not read or write — it measures.

OBD, Bench and Boot

OBD reaches the unit through the diagnostic port — nothing is removed or opened, and it is the fastest, least invasive route. Bench takes the unit out of the vehicle but does not open it, working through its connector. Boot opens the unit for full access to internal memory, for locked or corrupted units where the other two routes are closed. The bench-boot cables and rainbow flat cables in the case are for that work.

How the Subscription Works

Protocols are packaged by vehicle category and activated by subscription. A workshop working only on passenger cars does not pay for truck protocols, and scope is widened step by step as volume grows.

An active subscription provides protocol access, Alientech Suite software updates, automatic protocol updates and technical support. When the subscription expires the tool keeps working — only new updates and support stop. Some operations also run offline.
