OBDSTAR Key Master G3 Key Programmer Tablet

The OBDSTAR Key Master G3 (written KEYMASTER G3 by the manufacturer, usually searched as OBDSTAR G3) is an 8-inch Android key programming tablet from Shenzhen OBDSTAR Technology, built for automotive locksmiths and vehicle electronics shops. It adds keys and handles all-keys-lost jobs on cars, heavy-duty trucks, Chinese EVs, motorcycles and jet-skis, and it reads, writes and generates transponders. CAN FD, DoIP and an RFID transponder reader are built into the tablet, and the box ships with the MP001 EEPROM/MCU programmer. Several online sellers list the same tablet as the X300 Classic G3.

Short answer: the G3 programs keys over OBD and on the bench, reads and writes transponders with its built-in RFID coil, reads EEPROM and MCU dumps through the MP001 to recover PIN and key data, and tests remote frequencies. Android 11, 8-inch 1280×800 screen, 9,000 mAh battery. ECU cloning (ECU Flasher), airbag reset and the test platform are paid activations. There is no diagnostic menu.

What does the OBDSTAR G3 do?

IMMO and key programming

Add keys, all keys lost and remote learning, with separate vehicle lists for car, heavy-duty, e-car, motorcycle and marine.

Built-in RFID

Read and write transponders, make keys from blank chips and unlock smart keys. Hitag2, Hitag3, Hitag Pro, Megamos 13/48/8E, Temic and Texas DST 4D/AES families are listed.

EEPROM, MCU and key renew

The MP001 reads immobilizer boxes, clusters and BCMs on the bench; PIN and key data come out of the dump. Used smart keys can be renewed for another vehicle.

ECU Advanced

Unlocks used ECUs so they run in an identical vehicle (Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep), plus module-side key programming and VIN writing on other brands.

Paid modules

ECU Flasher (car ECM, TCM, body and motorcycle ECM cloning), Crash Reset (airbag, battery MVBM, steering angle sensor) and Test Platform (bench-driving clusters, ABS, gear levers, A/C panels).

OBDSTAR's own FAQ is clear that the G3 drops the diagnostic and maintenance functions of the older Key Master DP Plus, keeping only the manual service lamp reset. A shop that needs fault codes and live data should pair it with a car diagnostic tool.

OBDSTAR G3 car list: coverage highlights and limits

OBDSTAR publishes coverage as per-brand spreadsheets and, according to its FAQ, syncs them at the end of each month. The table below summarises the standard coverage file dated 30 September 2026 for brands we see most often. Cables and kits in the third column are sold separately.

What is in the box?

OBDSTAR's standard accessories sheet lists: the KEYMASTER G3 tablet, a 12 V / 2 A charger, the M001 main cable, the MP001 all-in-one programmer, W004 and W005 read/write soldering wires, the C4-01 multi-function read/write board, the C4-02 eight-pin chip board, BENCH-A V3 and BENCH-B V2 bench cables, the P004 adapter with its C1024 jumper, a jumper wire set in six types and a 3-in-1 jumper extension. The sheet ticks each item without quantities, so we count the box against it on delivery. Key SIM, the Benz FBS3 kit, VW4-AKL, V850, TYT-30 V2, FCA 12+8, Nissan and motorcycle cables are not included; OBDSTAR confirms that P002, P003, Key SIM and most older DP Plus cables work on the G3.

Updates, "immo pack" and annual subscription

Software comes through the tablet's Upgrade app after registering an account in Personal Center; Android itself updates over the air. The user manual says annual subscription renewal and configuration upgrades are no longer sold from the on-device Authorization Center but through the sales channel, which is also where "immo pack" style renewals are handled.

G3 vs X300 Classic G3, DP Plus, DC706 and IM608 Pro II

X300 Classic G3: the name does not appear on OBDSTAR's product page; it is a seller name for the same tablet, offered in different shell colours and software configurations. The difference sits in the modules enabled on the serial number, not in the hardware. Key Master DP Plus: OBDSTAR's own comparison gives the older tablet Android 5.1.1, 1+32 GB and a 3,700 mAh battery, with RFID, remote testing and CAN FD all needing external adapters.

OBDSTAR DC706: the DC706 is a cloning tablet for engine, transmission and body modules and does not program keys. The G3's paid ECU Flasher module brings similar cloning to the key tablet, but the coverage lists are not identical. The link between them is the MP001: OBDSTAR says it works with the Key Master DP Plus, KEYMASTER G3, DC706 and P50, is not bound to one device and can be shared, and SIMOS18 cloning requires it.

Autel IM608 Pro II: a 10.1-inch tablet that adds full diagnostics, a service menu and J2534 programming to key work, with XP400 Pro for transponders and EEPROM. Pick it if you also need a scan tool; pick the G3 if you already own one and want motorcycle and jet-ski key work in the same tablet.

Who is it for?

Locksmiths who cut and program car, motorcycle and jet-ski keys.
Shops heavy on Fiat, Renault, Toyota, Hyundai/Kia and VW group vehicles.
ECU repair benches already running a DC706 or OBDSTAR P50, since the MP001 and bench cables are shared.
Not for shops expecting Mercedes FBS4 or post-CAS4 BMW all-keys-lost work; a brand-licensed platform such as Abrites AVDI may fit better.

Setup and support

We connect remotely, open the account, register the tablet, bring the brand software you use up to date and check which modules are enabled on the serial number. Paid module activations are requested through the sales channel and verified on the tablet. We stay on the line for the first key job through the tablet's built-in remote support. Asking for proof of vehicle ownership before making a key is standard practice in this trade, and we walk new users through that workflow.

Honest note: a row in the coverage list is not the same as "works out of the box". Some jobs need cables or kits sold separately, some vehicles need a third-party PIN, and Mercedes FBS4 and post-CAS4 BMW all-keys-lost are not listed. The G3 has no diagnostics, and ECU cloning and airbag reset are paid modules.

Is the OBDSTAR X300 Classic G3 the same as the Key Master G3?

OBDSTAR's product page names the tablet KEYMASTER G3; X300 Classic G3 is a seller name for the same device. Any difference lies in the software modules enabled on the serial number, not in the hardware.

What is the difference between OBDSTAR G3 and DC706?

The DC706 clones engine, transmission and body modules and does not program keys. The G3 is a key programmer that adds cloning only through the paid ECU Flasher module, and both can share the MP001 programmer.
